  • The London Borough of Southwark is in south London; it forms part of inner London and is linked by bridges across the River Thames to the city of London.
  • The borough is a product of the amalgamation of three smaller council areas in 1965 under the London Government Act 1963. The council in authority is Southwark London Borough Council.
