Most things arrive by post. Although there isn't a counter in London, you can drop your device off at our Guildford intake laboratory, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm, and no appointment is needed. Media arrives tracked and insured and therefore the courier's delivery map defines the boundaries as opposed to local authority lines. The majority of postmarks show a London origin, followed by Hertfordshire, Essex, Kent and Surrey. When the box is opened none of these will matter.

If your town is missing from that row, it makes absolutely no difference. A single route serves all the postcodes there are. Just ring us or complete our online contact form, then send your package tracked and insured, or alternatively drop it off at our Guildford intake laboratory, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm. There's no need to make an appointment. Once here it will be assigned a bench on the same day it arrives. Forty-nine areas are each covered by a separate page below.

No matter which of the forty-nine areas your device comes from, once it arrives at our Guildford data recovery laboratory, it will go straight to the same bench. And from every one of those areas, there is no cost involved in diagnosing your problem.
Beyond the forty-nine
Our sister site Maidenhead Data Recovery provides data recovery services west of the M25 at Slough and Windsor, and for Berkshire and the Chilterns. The questions that come up first.
Is my postcode inside the area you cover?
Yes. Anywhere a tracked courier delivers, your media can have its work done at this bench. Most parcels carry London postcodes (E, EC, N, NW, SE, SW, W and WC), followed by BR, CR, EN, HA, IG, KT, RM, SM, TW and UB. The towns outside the London boundary are represented by AL, CM, DA, HP, TN and WD. Wherever your package started, the cost of returning it home after recovery will be ours.
Is the journey itself a risk to it?
It depends upon how you pack the item, not on where it is coming from. Obtain a quotation first by either phoning us or using the form provided. Keep a single external drive inside its own enclosure and post the complete unit, including its cable and power supply. If possible remove the drives from your NAS and label each drive with the bay it was located in; otherwise, post the entire NAS. In the case of an array, take the server or RAID set down to bare disks and clearly mark which bay each disk comes from. Do the same with any internal drive taken from a desktop, a laptop or a recorder. Pad all six sides and obtain postal tracking and insurance against loss or damage, or drop it off at our Guildford intake lab, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm (no appointment necessary).
Can somebody collect it from me instead?
We do not operate a vehicle collection service nor do we provide a collection schedule, therefore the answer is no. Sending via a postal tracked parcel provides numerous advantages over having to wait for a van driver to arrive, and far less can go wrong with it. Servers, large arrays and anything being held as evidence should receive additional consideration. Please telephone us first for a quote and to discuss how best to send your item and what packing we would recommend; then either post your item or bring it to our Guildford intake lab, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm (no appointment required). We still do not collect.
I am a long way from London — is a local firm better?
Don't pick the map, pick the bench. Because there are no media collections, parcels sent from three streets down the road join the queue level with a parcel sent from Cornwall; they're each logged and looked at on the day they arrive, and both come home with a fixed figure in writing. The cost of recovering data from a single drive is £300 + VAT, while recovering data from multiple disks used in RAID, NAS or servers starts at £500 + VAT. On most jobs you only pay if we recover your data.
