Privacy. The plain account first, the formal one below it.
The short of it: we want a handful of details and nothing more — precisely those a recovery cannot run without. What is held on your media reaches the engineer running the case and stops with that person; nobody else in the building sees it. It is not sold, not shared, and never used to market anything at you. Thirty days on from the files reaching you, every copy made here is securely wiped. Detail follows below.
Who we are. The trading name on this site is Advanced Data Recovery. Behind it stands a company. Easy Data Recovery Ltd is its name; NI625698 is its Northern Ireland number and ZC173784 its ICO registration. What is held about you, item by item
What an enquiry leaves behind. Four items go on file when you ring or send the form: a name, an address for email, a number we can call, and your own account of how the device is behaving. Take away any one of the four and there can be no reply, no view formed on the media, no quotation and no parcel back. Ahead of a contract they are held in order to do what you asked for; once one exists, in order to perform it.
The case file. Filed under your reference are the emails and calls, the quotation as it was written, your approval of it, and the postage record in both directions. It is how the job is run day to day, and it is also what an inspection of the accounts and the statutory returns looks at. Two lawful bases carry it: performing the contract, and obligation in law.
What is on your media. There is no recovery without an engineer handling your files; the handling is itself the service you asked for. Nothing occurs beyond it. Folders go unbrowsed, no disk is opened out of curiosity, and what is lifted from the media goes to you alone. Performing the contract is the lawful basis. Sensitive material that surfaces mid-job gets the same treatment as any other sector on that disk: recovered, read no further, kept no longer.
What is never done here
- There is no mailing list, no newsletter goes out, and nothing you have given us is ever bought or sold.
- Nothing on this site is placed for advertising, and nothing trails you from one site to the next. Where you go after the tab shuts is unrecorded, and none of our business.
- It all stays in Britain. None of the work is put out to another firm and nothing leaves the country — your media, along with every copy made from it, stays in this laboratory.
Who else goes near it
A short list, and only those the job could not run without. Hostinger host this site and supply the mailbox behind the contact form. The courier handles the parcel and reads only the label. Accountants see invoices, never files. A contract ties each of them to that one purpose. Your details reach a public authority where the law requires it, and nowhere else.
For how long any of it is kept
Thirty days is the life of the working copies made during a job: they sit in access-controlled storage, long enough to go back over the work should you want that, and are then securely erased. Your recovered data has gone home well before then. Should a device sit here unpaid or uncollected beyond that window, the Terms say what follows. Paperwork from an enquiry or a case lasts longer — six years, which tax, legal and warranty obligations require — and goes the same way when that runs out.
The rights you hold
Nothing written here reduces the protections the law gives you. Asking what is held about you is known as a subject access request. Correction, erasure, restriction, portability and objection are open to you as well. Ring us, or write to the address given above; one calendar month is the deadline for our reply. Where that reply settles nothing, complaints go to the Information Commissioner by way of ico.org.uk, though a second word with us is usually the quicker route.
While the device sits here
One case reference is attached at booking-in and stays with the device until its parcel goes out again. Access-controlled storage holds it in the meantime, and only the engineers on the case handle it. Fresh media carries recovered data home, and never the drive it was read from; our copies follow the schedule set out above. Should anything ever occur that put your rights in danger, plain wording would reach you without delay, and the ICO within 72 hours.
