The bench · getting hold of us
Contact, and how to post it. Speak to an engineer, or write it down below.
Two things are worth putting in writing: what the device does when you power it, and the sort of material stored on it. An engineer writes back within a working day, and frequently much faster than that. Would you sooner speak than type? The telephone rings at the bench itself. No call centre exists here, and nobody stands between you and whoever handles the drive.

Every document, out in the open.
Every job runs on one published set of paperwork — Terms & Conditions (PDF) · Privacy and your data. The contract itself is held by Easy Data Recovery Ltd, company NI625698 on the Northern Ireland register and ICO ZC173784, trading on this site as Advanced Data Recovery.
The questions that come up first.
What address does the parcel go to?
Head the label Guildford Data Recovery. Under it goes Building 2, Ground Floor; the estate is Guildford Business Park, Guildford; the postcode GU2 8XH. That first name is the only one reception recognises, so a parcel marked Advanced Data Recovery may well be refused downstairs. Use a tracked, insured service. Should a parcel need chasing, the laboratory's own line is 01483 901310. However the job ends up going, a bench takes your drive on the day of arrival, and the postage back is ours.
Is there a shop in London?
There is not, and no counter exists anywhere else either. The laboratory works by post: media travels to the Guildford intake lab in a tracked parcel and returns the same way, that leg at our expense. No engineer travels out to a customer and no parcel is picked up. Ring the bench on a weekday, 9am to 5:30pm, and the packing gets talked through first.
Will an email do instead of the form?
The form works better: it lands on the support desk carrying enough about the device that a case can be opened straight away. Where typing is not your preference, 0203 0868633 rings a staffed desk on any weekday, 9am to 5:30pm.
What else should travel with it?
Three things. The device; the shipping form, printed out and filled in; and anything that has parted company with it — a screw, a caddy lead. If the volume is encrypted, the password, or else the recovery key, belongs on that form. The mains adaptor stays at home unless an engineer has asked for it.
Nothing chargeable starts before you say yes.
Looking costs nothing. Before a chargeable minute is spent, one figure comes to you in writing. And the drive gets handled on the assumption it usually deserves: that no other copy of any of it exists.
