Is an IG10 address in Essex or in London?
Essex, and people may find that surprising: IG10 is the postcode designated as the LOUGHTON post town, located in Epping Forest district within Essex, yet the town itself lies within the Greater London Built-up Area, has two Tube stations and receives London buses. Out of the eleven IG districts only three, IG7, IG9 and IG10, are located in Essex at all, and IG7, located in Chigwell, is partially outside Essex because the boundary cuts through it. Here it will go straight onto an imager before anything else is tried. The image is read-only, and any subsequent attempts to recover your data will occur against that copy rather than your original. Your disk will leave the lab exactly in the same state as when you sent it. Your company name will never appear on our docket (a case reference number will), and upon completion we will provide you with a list detailing every file recovered along with every file that was unrecoverable.
A laptop full of rehearsal recordings and showreels — can that be read?
Generally speaking, yes, and drives from laptops such as yours are common arrivals from this town. Large media files generally perform well on an imager if they have not been written over, so please refrain from making any edits to your project, do not export anything, and do not allow anything to reinstall itself. Generally speaking, media of this size comes from one drive, therefore the cost will be £300 + VAT, or £250 + VAT should the media be stored on a card. Either way, the figure will need to be agreed upon in a written document first. Phones and tablets are beyond the scope of our laboratory, and therefore please do not attempt to transfer any data onto a tablet or phone while awaiting our services.
How does the drive reach you?
Generally, your drive arrives by post, or you may personally bring it to our Guildford intake lab, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm (no appointment needed). We cannot accept hand deliveries in Loughton or in London due to the fact that both our imaging equipment and donor stock remain in a single room at our Guildford lab, and it is the equipment rather than the personnel that decides where the work is performed. First obtain a quotation, either via phone or using our online form, then arrange an insured, tracked service from either a Loughton or Debden post office. A package handed in during the week is generally opened here the next working morning. Examinations are complimentary, and any travel back to your location will be paid by us.
