Yes. Ebbsfleet is DA10, with SWANSCOMBE as its post town, and the majority of it is located within Dartford borough, with a small eastern section located in Gravesham. Bluewater is DA9, Greenhithe and Stone, not the town. DA4 says DARTFORD on the envelope, while Eynsford and Farningham answer to Sevenoaks District, and DA1 reaches westward into Crayford, which left Kent in 1965. None of these address locations have items retrieved from them, therefore prices remain the same.
A rebuild has begun on the transport server. Stop it?
Turn it off now at the wall. A rebuild means reading every sector on every spinning disk. On a system which has been logging consignments since the yard opened, this prolonged read is often the final nail for the next weary disk. Broken off half-way through, it puts you further back than you were with just the failure itself. So turn off the power first. Mark each disk with which bay it belonged to, including the failed one. First get a quote: either call us or fill in the form. Then post the disks separately, or bring them into our Guildford intake laboratory, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm (no appointment necessary). The chassis stays with you. If using a NAS, remove the disks and label them likewise if you can; otherwise it can come in as it is, assembled in its own case. Second disk involved in this work and the base quotation will be £500 + VAT.
Drivers' hours records are on that disk. What comes back?
Imaging happens first and imaging is always read-only. Therefore your disk sent to us will never be modified in any way during the process and will leave our premises in the exact condition it arrived in. Everything after that is done using the image. Pricing is settled on paper prior to any billable step. When finished there will be two items: your recovered data on new media, and an itemised report of what was readable and what was not, which is important because a tachograph download may have to prove it is legitimate months later. We do not book the job under your company name; only a case number is assigned.
How should it be packed for the post?
Movement while being transported is what usually damages drives, therefore package it securely against movement. Use an anti-static bag if one is available. Then place it in a sturdy box filled tightly with packing material on all six sides, or use whatever the drive originally came in. Before posting, obtain a quote via phone or with the form, then insure and track the parcel. Include a printed copy of the shipping form in the box alongside the drive.
