DA1 to DA10 · Dartford
Dartford data recovery. Fourteen miles of new road being set out; the survey behind it exists in one place.
Ebbsfleet is DA10 and posts as SWANSCOMBE; Bluewater is DA9, Greenhithe and Stone. Get those two right and the rest of the borough reads properly. What the bench sees from here is movement, and the proof that it happened. Crossways and the Bridge estates run warehouse and transport management systems, and behind them sit proof-of-delivery images, tachograph downloads, weighbridge tickets, customs entries and consignment files — records whose whole purpose is to show that a load went where the paperwork says it went. Mazda runs its UK operation from Crossways, and the motor and vehicle-logistics trades around it keep service, parts and fleet histories on the same sort of machine. The A122 works have added a second seam: setting-out data, drone photogrammetry, as-built drawings and site diaries from a scheme that took its Development Consent Order in March 2025, started early works in March 2026 and is not now expected to open until 2034. Ebbsfleet Garden City puts land files, planning submissions and sales records in a head office and a site cabin at the same time, at a build rate well below the pace it was announced at. Darent Valley Hospital, open since December 2000, anchors the clinical and secretarial practices around it. Under all of that are the one-van trades, with job photography, quotes and an accounts file on one laptop. None of that is collected. Media travels to the Guildford intake lab by tracked post. Examination is not billed for, and a fixed figure is set down and agreed before any chargeable work begins.

Five faults the Dartford postbag keeps bringing.
Different fault? Try the finder →| What is going on | What arrives from here | Where that leaves you |
|---|---|---|
| A transport server that stopped after a power cut | Consignment records and proof-of-delivery images, nowhere else | Power off at the socket, mark each disk's bay, post them bare |
| A weighbridge PC in the gatehouse that will not start | Every ticket and customs entry for the quarter on one disk | Send the disk on its own; the PC stays put |
| A site laptop back from the A122 works, silent | Setting-out files and this month's as-builts on it | Lift the disk out and post it; keep the laptop |
| A retail DVR that plays none of its cameras back | Written over hour after hour, and now the disk is failing | Take the disk out before the cameras write on it again |
| An external of van-trade job photography, clicking | Ten years of quotes, invoices and site pictures on the one drive | Unplug it now — every restart costs more of the surface |
Getting the parcel out of Dartford intact.
Four questions from the DA postcodes.
Ebbsfleet posts as SWANSCOMBE. Is that covered?
It is. Ebbsfleet is DA10 with SWANSCOMBE as its post town, and all of it is Dartford borough. Bluewater is DA9, Greenhithe and Stone, not the town. DA4 says DARTFORD on the envelope while Eynsford and Farningham answer to Sevenoaks District, and DA1 reaches west into Crayford, which left Kent in 1965. Nothing is fetched from any address, so none of it moves a price.
A rebuild has begun on the transport server. Stop it?
Stop it now, at the socket. Rebuilding means reading every sector on every disk that is still spinning, and on a set which has been logging consignments since the yard opened, that long read is usually the thing that finishes off the next tired member. Broken off half way, it leaves you worse placed than the fault alone did. So the power comes off first. Write on each disk which bay it occupied, the failed one included, and post the disks by themselves — the chassis stays with you. A NAS is the exception: it travels made up, in its own case. Second disk anywhere in the job and the opening figure is £500 + VAT.
Drivers' hours records are on that disk. What comes back?
Imaging comes first and it is read-only, so the disk you posted is not altered at any point and goes home exactly as it reached us. Everything afterwards runs on the image. The price is settled on paper before any billable step. At the end there are two things: the recovered files on new media, and a line-by-line account of what read cleanly and what read short — which is what counts when a tachograph download has to stand up months later. No company name is booked; a case number stands in.
How should it be packed for the post?
What damages a drive in transit is movement, so pack against it. An anti-static bag where one is available, then a rigid box padded firmly on all six faces — or whatever the drive originally shipped in. Tracked and insured, with the insured sum set by the value of the data and not the hardware. The shipping form should be printed off and put in the box alongside. Everything else is on the posting page, and we cover the leg home.

Post it from a DA address; the look is free.
Leave it switched off from here on. What was running at the moment it stopped is worth telling us — a night's routing job, a scanner logging, a recorder writing. Examination is free of charge. A figure then arrives on paper, and you accept that before anything is billed.
